Hazardous waste collection events!

Throughout the summer Hennepin County is running special hazardous waste collection events. To increase convenience of dropping off items that cannot be thrown in the regular trash events are located at various locations around the Twin Cities area.  Below is a list of the date and times of each event:

May 17 – 19: City of Minnetonka

July 26 – 28: City of Minneapolis

August 16 – 18: City of Minneapolis
Pillsbury School parking lot

Minneapolis, MN 55418

Sept. 13 – 15City of Shorewood
Public Works Department
24200 Smithtown Road
Shorewood, MN 55331

What makes items hazardous? A basic rule  is if an item is ignitable, corrosive, explosive and/or reactive, toxic or radioactive it should be considered hazardous waste. Click here for a specific list of what items will be collected at the events. Common items are electronics, paint, and mercury containing products (CFLs and thermostats).
