Earth Hour is a simple grassroots movement that sends a strong message. All you have to do to participate in Earth Hour is to turn off all of your lights for one hour at 8:30 PM this Saturday, March 31st. Earth Hour has also moved past just turning off your lights for an hour. It encourages everyone to pledge to do other actions such as recycling and reducing the amount you drive through the “I Will if You Will” campaign. Earth Hour highlights how each one of us is accountable for how we treat the earth. By participating in Earth Hour we are acknowledging this and taking the first step to improving our behavior towards the earth.
Personally, I’m pretty excited about Earth Hour. There are so many great things that I can do! On the top of my list is playing board games by candle light and having a dance party in the dark. This is a great opportunity to get friends together and throw an Earth Hour party or get the whole family to participate in an energy saving action!
