Get ready for spring with a rain barrel and compost bin.

28 March 2012

The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) is selling rain barrels ($69) and compost bins ($55) this spring. Sale events are going on around the metro area in the month of April and May.

Rain barrels are used to save up all that rain that runs off your roof. In the summer months cities report using up to 4 times the amount of water used during winter months. Along with this, many cities incuding EdinaPlymouth, Prior Lake, Bursville and Hopkins impose watering restrictions during summer months. Rain barrels are a great way to reduce the amount of city water used for your yard and garden.

Because RAM works with local businesses and government they are able to provide compost bins at an affordable cost. Also, spring is a great time to start up a compost bin and start making nutrient rich soil and fertilizer for your garden.
