Save Mom Energy for Mother’s Day
Wondering what to give your mom for Mother’s Day? Is she getting bored of flower arrangements that die after a week? I’m obviously a little biased, but I think a great Mother’s Day gift is to help your mom save energy in her home! Energy efficiency is always more fun and easy when there’s someone else helping out – and when you help reduce energy waste, it’s the gift that keep giving through increased comfort and lower utility bills. Here are a few ideas:
- Buy her some cool EnergyStar-rated compact fluorescents – like bathroom globes or three-way bulbs! Each bulb will save your mom $5 a year and up to $40 over their lifetime.
- Help her install high efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators in her bathroom(s) and kitchens. High efficiency fixtures use 2.0 or less gallons of water per minute, so she can enjoy hot showers without high energy bills.
- Are drafts through the front door driving your mom up the wall? Install a door sweep to help reduce air leaks without messing up her decor.
