You don’t have to get rid of your incandescents!

21 April 2011

I know that compact fluorescents use 75% less electricity, but I’ve got some old incandescents that are still working.  Are you telling me to throw them away?

Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are a great strategy to reduce electricity use in your home, but you’re not limited to using just one kind of light bulb – you don’t have to throw away old incandescents!  What you should do is get them out of your high use areas – kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, bathrooms – and use CFLs in those fixtures instead.  You’ll get the biggest bang for your buck out of the CFLs, and still get useful life out of your incandescents in your closets, basement stairwell and garage.
