Win fun prizes for…riding the bus??

21 March 2011

I’ve already mentioned #30daysofbiking on this blog – and failed to mention that I will be participating this year, yay! – but there is another transportation-related challenge happening in April for folks that don’t have biking as an option: the Metro Transit Commuter ChallengeWith rising gas prices, using public transportation is a great way to keep costs down as well as fit in some extra exercise and reduce your carbon footprint. I particularly love how little attention I need to pay on the bus – I can read the paper, solve Sudoku puzzles or take a little cat nap and still get where I need to go!  If you pledge online at mycommuterchallenge.org in April and track your trips on buses, trains, carpools or bike trips, you’ll be entered to win a plethora of prizes including all sorts of new tech gadgets like Kindles and iPads.  Check it out!

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned here before, but Metro Transit also has a loyalty program called “Ride to Rewards” that is open to all GoTo card and transit pass holders.

Participants can earn points per ride (except transfers) and then redeem them for either credits to go on your GoTo card or gift cards.
