Switch to the Bus, Save $10k a Year

9 March 2011

“As gas prices rise, using public transportation is the quickest way people can beat high gasoline prices,” states William Millar, president American Public Transportation Association (APTA).

And in Minneapolis, if you switch from commuting with a car and paying for a parking spot to traveling with Metro Transit, you can save about $10,510 a year! That’s no chump change – and with car sharing and bike sharing de rigueur in the Twin Cities, it’s easier than ever to get around without your own personal internal combustion device.  So do the numbers and consider whether spring cleaning this year will include getting rid of the car and charging up a bus pass.
