Wow. Just wow! As of Thursday, March 3, 2011, the Minnesota Energy Challenge has 27,000 members statewide pledging to reduce energy waste in our homes. If we put on a Great Energy Challenge Get Together, we’d fill 70% of the seats in Target Field and it would take 145 light rail cars to get all of us there. Not to mention that we’re also pledging to save more than $12.8 million together each year – that’s an average savings of more than $470 per person!
Our collective pledge to reduce our carbon footprints by more than 215.9 million pounds of carbon dioxide pollution annually is equal to the energy produced by burning 512 railcars worth of coal – which could provide electricity for more than 11,800 Minnesota homes for an entire year. Thanks everyone – and keep up the good work!
