Wash Those Reusable Bags!
Did you know that you need to regularly wash your reusable bags? Neither did I, until I read this recent study from the University of Arizona and Loma Linda University in California which randomly tested reusable bags and found E. coli in HALF of the bags sampled. EAUGH.
Turns out we can’t treat our reusable bags the same way we do disposable/recyclable ones. I have been carrying everything in these bags, including clothing, books and papers – and food. And I can’t remember the last time I washed any of those bags.
So tonight, I’m putting “washing my reusable bags” at the top of my To-Do list, as well as separating out bags that should only be used for groceries and thus need to get washed once a week.
The more you know!
