Vikings Go Green!

24 September 2009

Yesterday the Minnesota Vikings announced that they are partnering with Xcel Energy to offset 100% of the electricity used to power to the Metrodome for all home games with wind energy!

“The Vikings are committed to developing sustainable business practices and utilizing renewable energy sources whenever possible,” said Vikings owner and president, Mark Wilf. “We greatly appreciate the opportunity to partner with Xcel Energy on their Windsource program. Our hope is to build awareness and encourage other businesses and households to participate along with us.”

Xcel Energy estimates that the Vikings are helping elimiate the equivalent of emissions from the electricity use of over 30 Minnesota homes for an entire year.

Want to be cool like the Vikings?  Over 21,000 Minnesota households have signed up for Xcel Energy’s Windsource®, too!  It’s super easy, and because you get a fuel cost rebate on every bill, very reasonable.  I support 100% of my electricity use through Windsource® and it usually doesn’t add a dime to my electricity bills.  A very green (and now, purple) way to support renewable energy in Minnesota.
