Passionate about CFL recycling?

6 April 2009

Contact your state representative and ask them to support H.F. 606, a bill introduced by representatives Melissa Hortman, Phillip Sterner, Paul Gardner, Erin Murphy and Kate Knuth to require manufacturers of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to organize collection and recycling programs for the bulbs.  As we all know, CFLs contain minscule amounts of mercury that regardless should be kept our of the waste stream; requiring manufacturers to provide collection and recycling would go a long way to creating opportunities for greater education around this issue and just make it easier for everyone to recycle their old energy efficient bulbs!
