We are going to be installing a ground source heat pump. Which brands are the most efficient? Is it advisable to completely remove the existing furnace and air conditioner or since we live in a cold climate to keep the furnace for backup heat in case of extremely cold weather? We do have a natural gas fireplace that can assist in heating the house.
