Friday Links

15 August 2008

As a regular blog reader and now a regular blog writer, I understand that when Friday rolls around, all of our attention spans are a little…tired. So I’m introducing a new weekly feature, to join our Ask the Experts on Wednesdays – Friday Links! All about Energy Efficiency and Conservation, all the time.

With Juneau’s Power Restored, Conservation Drops(NPR): The title to this National Public Radio piece is a bit misleading. When an avalanche caused the price of electricity to go up 481%, the citizens of Juneau, Alaska stepped up to the plate and seriously reduced their energy use. While the price has gone done, people have gotten into the habit of conserving, and while use has gone up a little, people say they may never use energy the same way again.

Shifting Into Under-Drive (Grist): Enviro-news blog Grist offers a great round-up of recent news stories on American’s stunning change in transportation habits since gas hit $4/gallon. We can really make changes when we put our mind to it!
