Arctic Ice-Free Summer is a Bad Sign

Some experts are saying that we might experience the first summer without sea ice in the Arctic in recorded history, depending on the weather in the next couple of months. Why should we care? The melting ice has an effect on more than the polar bears and shipping industry – the sea ice in the Arctic helps keep our planet cooler by reflecting the sun’s rays. When the ice melts, the sea absorbs the suns rays, which heats it up. So, just another reminder that our action is needed to help our planet – take the Minnesota Energy Challenge and learn how to save money and energy and maybe the sea ice today!
