Have you taken the 2 Mile Challenge?

Here at the Minnesota Energy Challenge, we like to remind people that our transportation habits can easily be shifted to have maximum positive impact without feeling like a huge, unsustainable change for an individual. When you pledge to drive however many less miles a week – say, 10 less a week – it can suddenly seem like a daunting task. Did you know that 40% of trips taken in this country are of a distance of 2 miles or less, yet 90% of those trips are done by car? Yikes. There are some easy, fun solutions to this, even during our cold Minnesota winters! When it’s negative whatever outside, it’s the perfect opportunity to practice trip-bundling. Instead of making lots of little trips back and forth from your home, make a plan to run all your errands in one go.

And pledge to drive ten less miles a week while the weather is nice! I promise you’ll enjoy it.
