As of this afternoon, there are

11,575 Minnesota residents and businesses

using the Minnesota Energy Challenge website to pledge to reduce their energy use and save money and energy in their homes and places of work.
If everyone does what they say they will, they will avoid a
cumulative

102.8 million pounds
of carbon dioxide pollution

and save

over $11.1 million annually!

That the carbon equivalent of:

  • Taking over 8,540 passenger vehicles off the road every year;
  • The emissions from 623 tanker trucks’ worth of gasoline; and
  • The carbon captured annually by 325 acres of forest.

The moral of this story is, of course, individual action can make a real difference if everyone plays along, starting with the basics like light bulbs and moving up as you go along. Congrats, Challengers – we’re making a real difference!

Add your numbers and help us to our goal of 50,000 Minnesotans on the site.
