No, not the BEER

10 April 2008

Global warming, climate change, climate chaos, global weirding, whatever you want to call it – it’s real, and it’s going to change our lives in big ways. Including the world’s oldest and most popular alcoholic beverage – beer.

Jim Salinger, a climate scientist at New Zealand’s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, said climate change likely will cause a decline in the production of malting barley in parts of New Zealand and Australia. Malting barley is a key ingredient of beer.

“It will mean either there will be pubs without beer or the cost of beer will go up,” Salinger told the Institute of Brewing and Distilling convention. :: Link

So using less energy, creating less pollution and contributing less to global warming also means supporting many industries, including brewing and distilling. Join the Minnesota Energy Challenge and start supporting today!
