Metro Transit’s Go Greener Initiative
19 November 2007
What is green, clean – and exceptionally quiet? Metro Transit’s 17 new hybrid buses. The new buses, a major part of the agency’s Go Greener initiative, use electric power and a biodiesel blend produced in Minnesota. These first buses will first be deployed on routes 17 and 18 down Nicollet Mall. Once all 172 planned hybrids are added to the fleet, Metro Transit is expecting to save 338,000 gallons of fuel a year. This is an impressive step by Metro Transit to improve public transportation in Minnesota. Keep your eyes open for the green buses and let us know what you think.
